The Russell County, VA tax lists show two William Ratliffs in 1787 and 1788.One of these was designated as "son of Reuben".In 1789 there were three, one was William Ratliff, Senr; one was William Ratliff, son of Reuben, and the third was Wm Ratliff (Camp Place).Three William Ratliffs were still present in 1791, then just two through 1796.Only William Ratliff junr is there in 1797, after which he also disappears from the record.I believe the William Ratliff, senr who is last found there in 1796 is the one who was in Mason County, KY when two of his children married on 12 Feb 1798.
William Ratliff bought 110 acres on North Fork Clinch River on 23 Feb 1796, then William Ratliff and his wife, Susannahsold it in October 1796.If I am looking at this right it would appear that Susannah was the wife of William Ratliff Sr.We still don't know her maiden name.
Nathan Ratliff was married twice in Montgomery County, VA; but in both cases only the year was recorded.
Nathan Ratliff married (1) Polly Farmer in 1781.
Nathan Ratliff m. (2) Martha Farmer in 1803; by Richard White, Minister.
