Jimmy -

I have info down to your grandparents in my database. The ancestry from Leslie D. Rather back is as follows:

-----1st Generation
1. Leslie D. Rather

-----2nd Generation
2. James S. Rather, b. 1874 MS; m1. Essee (--?--); m2. Callie Velora Nolen 26 Oct 1902 AR; d. bef 1916 AR.
3. Callie Velora Nolen, b. 1882; m1. W. E. Henderson 25 Dec 1898 AR; m2. James S. Rather (above); d. 1953 AR

-----3rd Generation
4. John T. Rather, b. 1848 MS, m. 15 Mar 1872 (or 10 Jul 1875) MS to:
5. Elizabeth Miller, b. 1856 MS.

-----4th Generation
8. Samuel Mills Rather, b. 1818 AL; m. 22 Mar 1842 MS to:
9. Sarah J. Barfield, b. c1822.

-----5th Generation
16. William Rather, b 1771 VA; d. 1850-1860 MS; m. 14 Sep 1814 AL to:
17. Elizabeth Smith, b. 1790 NC.

-----6th Generation
32. William Rather, b. 4 Nov 1741 VA; d. 19 Jan 1789 VA; m. c1760 to:
33. Sarah (--?--)

-----7th Generation
64. Samuel Rather, b. c1718; d 1774 VA; m. bef 1737 to:
65. Anne (--?--)

I don't have a whole lot tying the Pike County Rathers together. When I ran a descendancy report from John T. Rather, I only came up with a total of 22 peresons. The Descendants of James S. Rather, and one of his sisters, Laura, whose married name was Garner. She was in Pike county, as well.

Hope this is of help to you. I'd love to be able to fill in more info on the more recent generations. If you'd care to share it, please email me privately. It's better not to post it on the internet, for safety reasons.

Julie
