A biography/family history of Fred E. Rathert, Wolf Point, MT, banker, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 930.
Frank was born, 7 Sep 1886, son of William and Sarah (Price) Rathertnatives of Indiana and Wisconsin, respectively. Children: Clara (Mrs. Asa Farnsworth) and Maud (Mrs. J.J. Clemmer), both of Cresco, IA, Fred E. (Wolf Point, MT), Don and Raymond (Cresco).
Frank graduated from Cresco High School and moved to Fessenden, ND. He was employed by M.E. Wilson and Co. for three years, and was given early training as a banker. He was sent to the Perkins County Bank, Chance, SD, and after six years resigned as cashier to locate to Wolf Point, MT, in Mar 1915.
On 12 Mar 1908, Fessenden, ND, Frank married Miss Mary Scharf, born Spencer, IA, 1 Jul 1889, daughter of Charles W. and Annie (Jepsen) Scharf. Children of Frank and Mary Rathert: Charles W. and George Kenneth.
