My sister is married to Ilya Raskin. His father is Yuri, and great-grandfather is Ilya. My sister's husband's family is from Russia.
I asked Yuri a question, he said his ancestors, so the legend goes, used to live in Spain, banished, 1492. They then lived in Ottoman Empire and then Poland. This should let you know about origins of Raskin name.

One other thing: Yahoo lists 200 Raskins, so it's anyone's guess
who is related to who. No, I'm sorry, I never heard of your Uncle -- I hope you find out what happened to him.
