Marriage records sho a Reuben J Rash marrying a Mary L Dunn in Posey County, Indiana, on 16 April, 1849. I find a Reuben Rash in the 1860 census in Wilkes County, NC, which is where I would expect a person in southern IN to have migrated from. This Reuben is only 18, so not the Reuben we are looking for. The reason I mention it is because of the rare name. The large group of NC Rashes come from the DE Rashes, a huge family. I found our Reuben Rash in the 1860 census by looking for his son, Berry Rash. Reuben is still in Marrs, Posey, Indiana, and is listed as 38, and being born in Kentucky. His wife in 1860 is Polly Rash, 38. All the children are listed as being born in Kentucky. This leads me to believe that the info was probably given by a neighbor, and might be suspect. The 1870 census for Marrs, Posey County, Indiana lists Ruben Rash with wife Mary. Ruben is 50, and is shown born in Kentucky, and Mary 51 and shows being born in Indiana. All the children show being born in Indiana.
