George,
I am fairly certain that Lodowick Rasco of South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas was closely related to Daniel Rascoe of South Carolina, Kentucky who married Charlotte Morris but I have no primary documented proof of this. They could in fact be brothers. (see my other messages posted to this forum, especially messages 751, 1092, 1093). I have identified seven different Rascoe who were born in South Carolina in the early 1800s and had moved to various other states by the late 1820 and early 1830. These may have all been descendants of Alexander Rascoe who appears in The Marlboro County S.C. censuses of 1800. 1810, and 1820.
There is a story that a Rascoe from Marlboro County had several sons and he bought them all a hat and they all moved to different in different directions to other parts of the country.
Notice that the Alexander Rascoe who was in Marlboro County is last picked up in the census there in 1820 and was not there by 1830. Did he die or did he move away. Perhaps he moved with Daniel toward Kentucky. There is a marriage record for an Alexander Rascoe to an Elizabeth Davis in Dickson County Tennessee in 1833. I use to think that this Alexander Rascoe was the one who moved to Sumner and Davidson County Tennessee from Bertie County, N.C. but there is no knowledge or record to prove this amoung his descendants.
The Alexander Rascoe from South Carolina did have a son named Purrington Rascoe who remained in Marlboro County S.C.
That Purrington named one of his sons Daniel Rascoe. The Daniel Rascoe who married Charlotte Morris was born in South Carolina and had a son he named Purrington. Purrington is not exactly a real common given name.
Daniel Rascoe,s son Purrington, was born in 1850 after the census was taken. He is listed in Daniel's household in Fulton County, Ky in the 1860 census. In the 1870 census of Hickman County, Ky in the household of Daniel Rosco. Some times after that, Purrington married Virginia P. Griffen in Caldwell County, Ky. His name is spelled Perton Rasco on the 1880 census of Caldwell County, Ky. Virginia, Purrington's wife, apparently died between the 1880 and the 1900 census as P Rascoe's wife in the 1900 census of Hopkins County, Ky is listed as Sarah. The 1910 census of Hopkins County has his name spelled Warington or Harington Rosco. In the 1920 census of Williamson County Illnois,
His name is spelled Perrington Rosco and his younger wife is still Sarah. The Death Records of Illinois shows that Parrington Rosco died in Williamson County, Illinois October 13, 1927. I have not been able to locate what became of his wife Sarah. Apparently the censuses ages given for Sarah showing her to be much younger then Purrington are correct. The 1910 census indicated that the two children in Purringtons household, Willie and Eva were stepchildren with the surname of McGregor although the 1900 census list them as Rascoe. It possible that Sarah had previously been married to a McGregor and had those two children.
