Hello, Sorry this is a long one.... I am seeking help from anyone whom knows of a book called "Gross Martybruch"(Great book of Martyrs). It was rare in 1868 when some of my "Sevin" family information was taken from it as one of my ancestors (Herman Sevin) took information out of it in 1868. It was written in French, later translated into German, published in Hanan in 1606. This relates to the bloody persecutions of the Hugenots in Orleans, France. This occured on St. Bartholomew's Day. This is the earliest reports that I know of my family tree of "Sevin". Herman Sevin in 1868 took this information mostly from church records and from a family tree owned by Johann Ernst Gottfried Sevin of Karlsruke, Germany, compiled about 1780. I have googled and searched for this book, but cannot seem to locate anything on it. There are some newer books with similar titles but they do not mention our family name in them. According to one of my past aunts the name SEVIN is an old one in France. An archbishop of Sens of this name is found as early as 991. Unbroken lineage of this family is known from 1410 in Valve, near Orleans. The problem is I am up against a brick wall at this time because I can only find at this time information from 1513-1572 on a Martin Sevin which starts my tree. He was murdered in this purge in Orleans and he opens this first generation of my family. His descendants went to Germany and I can trace a fair amount on the deaths and births of the family so far, but loose out on much of the other branches of the tree. As you know, much yet to accomplish. Any help would be greatly appreciated on the book or the families. Thank you, Jan Notify Administrator about this message?
