My Grandad is John Edward Rapley born in Sunderland 1920 and his father was Marlborough Rapley thats as far as my mother and myself know as Grandad doesn't tell us very much. i have in recent years lernt that there are many Rapley's in the former British Empire (South Africa, Canada, Australia) also in USA and Great Britian.

If any Rapley/s originate or reside in the North can i am keen to gather some more information.

I also wish to know the origin of the Rapley name, my grandmother claimed it was French but i am not convinced.

thanks,

Lewis
