The Rape families who settled in Cinn. Ohio from Germany with that name were from Oldenburg in Prussia. I heard this first hand from at least three different men who had first hand knowlege of their Rape ancestors. I recall the names of Anton and August Rape. Other Rape sur-names in the U.S.A. are variations in Spelling from two other locations. One is REEB which is pronounced the same as Rape is in English. The other is a derivation of the name REAP from County Mayo in Ireland.
