Ollie... Since posting my previous response to your inquiry I have now read the terse notes I made in Nashville over a decade ago regarding the previously referenced Morehead memoir written by a younger son of Turner Morehead. Paraphrased, they state that the author must have been confused when he referred to Mary Morehead Ransdell and Mary Morehead Clark as separate individuals -- that conflicts with the known data. The memoir was written by Charles Robert Morehead in 1870. As I recall, it was several pages in length, written in pencil. As I recall, it is on file at the Tennessee State Archives. Also, as I recall, Ann Ransdell Morehead was not the mother of Charles Robert Morehead. I long ago concluded that it is probable that Mary Morehead Ransdell, the widow of Wharton Ransdell and mother to Charles and Wharton Ransdell, next married Mr. Clark(e). Hope this helps you determine the facts.
