Be sure to check out the book Middletown Upper Houses by Charles Collard Adams – all about Ranney family in CT & other families too, including some Smiths. There were quite a few Rebeccas in the late 1700s – you may be able to zero in on yours in this book. My Ranney family (Solomon, b. 1756 in Bethlehem CT) moved to Kortright NY, near E. Bloomfield. Good luck.
