Well Mike you have found a very distant cousin. How distant I don't know. I didn't take the time to figure it out. What I did figure out though is that your great great great grandmother, Lelia Susan Ranney is a first cousin to my great grandmother, Isabella Ranney. Their fathers, James Stow Ranney and William W. Ranney came to Kentucky together. Isabella was born March 10, 1837 and Lelia Susan according to my records was born Sept. 10 1849. They very likly knew each other. Isbella married Job Malin Smith. Their children were, 1. William W., b.May21,1828; d. Sept 27, 1828 2.Susan Clark, b. Sept16, 1829; d.Feb 10, 1830 3. William W., b. Nov. 29, 1830. 4. George, b.Aug. 13 1832; d. Jan. 31, 1838 5. Susan Clark, b. Aug.13, 1834; m. A. J. Atherton. 6. Isabella, born May 10, 1837, Newburyport, Mass.; d. Oct.21, 1903; m. Dec. 16, 1852, Mclean Co., KY., Job Malin Smith, b. Dec. 9, 1828; d. May 11, 1867, Fransona, Ill. 7.George. b. July 24, 1839. 8. Charles James, b. June 6, 1842; d. Sept 30, 1851 9. Maria Serena, b. Dec 27, 1844; d. Jan. 8, 1845. 10. Marea Serena, b. April 10, 1846. Was a nurse. She took a deep interest in the work of the Society of Middletown Upper Houses. Lived in Austin, Minn. As you can see only 5 children out of 10 survived. Life must have been very hard. One of Isabella's sons, Alexander Campbell Smith was my grandfather. He lived around Davis County, Ky all his life. He died around 1936 or 1937 and is buried in a small church graveyard in a little place called Beta, close to Hartford, KY. I will keep my eyes open for anymore info you may be interested in. If you have anything for me, I would be grateful. Good luck in your search. In His Grace, Janice Harper.
