As you may know, Mary Emma Raney married John Naughton about 1900.They were both deaf and met through the state deaf school in Olathe, Kansas. The growth of their family can be tracked through the U.S. censuses of 1900 (Kansas, Coffey Co.), 1910 (Kansas, Norton Co.), 1920 (Colorado, Washington Co.) and 1930 (Kansas, Morris Co.).Their children were Maude, Edward, Leslie, John Jr., Margaret, and Willard. The last two are still alive; Margaret is my mother, who married Charles Coe Roberts.John Naughton's parents were John "Jack" Naughton and Margaret Heffron, who lived on adjacent fames in Coffey County, Kansas Territory in 1860 and may be found in that census mis-indexed under "Nawghton" and "Hefon".Jack and Margaret's parents were all from Ireland late 1830's.I know hardly anything about my great-grandfather James W. Raney or his ancestors and would be grateful to you or anyone who has information.
