I would be greatly interested in accessing your Family website! I am having a lot of trouble locating any information on my great grandmother who was born a Randle; Laura Mae Randle.
Her peanut farm was supposedly in Sanford, Alabama (just east of Adalusia) when my grandmother, Hattie Mae Barnett married my grandfather, Wm. Henry Brewer, March 17, 1912. We have letters with postmarks.
Laura married James Barnett (1891?)and had four children, the oldest being my grandmother born Aug 24, 1892. The she married Frank Hermling (1898?)and had four more children.
The last time my mother remembers seeing her was when she was about 10; her family was very ill and Laura came to Dallas with daughter Helen to care for Hattie's family. The story I have been told is that Laura's mother died giving birth and after a few years he remarried a woman with the last name of Russell who had children. He was supposedly killed by a train on his way to change his will (to divorce and leave her out of it), Laura lost any inheritance due her. The Russell family moved to Dallas, (or lived in Dallas at the time, not sure), they started Randle Music Company. My mother remembers that while Laura was in Dallas she went to the Russell/Randle home to have a few words with them, which is why my mother remembers it so well. I don't know Laura's parents names and I'm stuck not knowing if she died in Sanford or if she moved with one of her children, two of which we know moved to Florida. I also know that they were shouting Methodists (meaning spirit-filled/pentecostal back then).
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated! My mother, Eleanor Brewer Clayton is going to be 82 this August and I want to find information on her family for her. I'm living up in Washington State and it makes it hard living so far away from Alabama! My mother lives in California.
