Jennifer -
I'm not sure this is your Eugene but could be. I have a huge Randle database. In it I have a Eugenia Carothers Randle, born 22 Jan 1859. This would match your info except for the sex and form of the name. :-) A major Randle resource book lists this child as Eugenia, BUT no marriage info etc is included while there is some info on the siblings. She IS listed as a female on the 1860 Oktibbeha, MS census, but that could have been an error of the census taker and then it was continued in the book. What do you think? Parents of "Eugenia" were Richard James [or James Richard]Randle and Ellen Brooks. Richard James Randle WAS in Clay County, MS in 1880! He is supposed to be on the 1870 Oktibbeha Co,Starkville P.O. MS census on page 144. I looked on Ancestry and their images for that county don't even start until page 280 something! If you can find him on that census, it might confirm whether his child was Eugenia or Eugene. Also, maybe Eugenia died and the next child, a boy, was named Eugene? If you determine that this is the right Randle, I have much more on this line.
