Know that I am descended from Charles Stark Rand (grandfather born c. 1891, perhaps in Summit or Fernwood, MS) and Ruby Lottheros Rand whose family was originally from Rhennish, Bavaria, who last resided in Hammond, LA. Charles Stark Rand had a brother named George Burnham Rand. My aunt, the daughter of Charles and Ruby Rand still resides in Hammond, LA. I recall her speaking of George B. (Burnham) Rand often.
Further, I believe that Charles Rand's parents came to New Orleans, LA, from Bucksport, Maine, or somewhere in that vicinity. After migrating to New Orleans, I believe they further relocated to either Fernwood or Summit, MS after a yellow fever epidemic in New Orleans. Prior to Bucksport, ME, the family was from Vermont. The name Charles Stark was given to my grandfather in honor of Colonel Charles Stark who was a leader of the Green Mountain Boys in the American Revolution. Prior to Vermont and Maine, some ancestors were from Liverpool England, or so I am told.
