I am trying to find a connection of my Ramsey ancestor, a Dr. James Ramsey b. 1 Apr 1753 who built his home in Marble Valley on the Great Calfpasture River. His father was a William Ramsey b. 1727 (but not certain where). I thought a possible link to the John Ramsey who had property in the Great Calfpasture was possible, but your posting of Capt John's descendents seems to be an unrelated family.

Chaulkley's Chronicles indicates a John Ramsey with land in the Great Calfpasture and one web entry years ago implied that our Dr. James bought his land. I have no documentation to prove or disprove that statement. Do you have any information re the land owned by your Ramsey line?? The one mention about the Cowpasture River would place them in the Pastures, but north of the Calfpasture River where Dr James, and his descendents settled and still live in the old homeplace.

I would appreciate any information you may care to share.

Thanks.
