I am Jim Ramsden from Boise, Idaho, USA. I am only a 2nd generation "Yank," and this is what I know of my "roots".
Grandfather: Harry Ramsden (same as my Father), Born April 17, 1896, Heckmondwike, England; Died June 20, 1937, Newburgh, Orange County, New York, USA. Wife: Kathryn Reider; Children - Harry Prentice (my Father), Martha Jane, Mabel Adeline, and Clara Rose.
Great-Grandfather: Lorenzo Ramsden, Born Oct 20, 1958, Heckmondwike, Yorkshire, England; Died Oct 20, 1928, Newburgh, Orange County, New York, USA. Wife #1: Martha Thorpe Prentice; Wife #2: Sarah Whitehead.
Great-Great-Grandmother: Jane Ramsden, Born 1836, Heckmondwike; Died Mar 9, 1882, New Windsor, Orange County , New York, USA; Husband - William Smith (no other information)
Other Information: Martha Thorpe Prentice's parents: John Prentice, Mary Ann Thorpe. Mary Ann was born Dec 28, 1818; Married June 28, 1838, Leeds, England; Children: Martha, Emma, Sarah and Jane
More Info :) Martha Thorpe, daughter of John and Mary Ann Prentice of Croft Street., Heckmondwike was born Jan 26, 1857, baptized Nov 25, 1874 in Heckmondwike Parish Church. Martha, (spinster) <-- that's what it says, of Checkheaton, was married on Apr 22, 1882 to Lorenzo Ramsden of Littletown in Christ Church, Liversedge. (Witnesses were a Martha Fox and a David Smith.) On Oct 10, 1891, Lorenzo, now a widower, age 35, of Gomersal (?), married Sarah Jane Whitehead (also a spinster), age 40, of Heckmondwike, in Heckmondwike Parish Church. Witnesses were William ? Hinchcliffe and Ester Sykes.)
STILL more :) :) Elizabeth, youngest Daughter of John and Mary Ann Prentice, late of Liversledge, died at the age of 20 on May 1st, 1882 and was interred at Christ Church, Liversedge.
ONE more (honest) :) Richard Thorpe of Lobley Street, Heckmondwike, died at the age of 38 on March 9, 1888, and was interred at Batley Cemetery, March 11, 1888
