Sir John Ramsden, of Byrom and Longley Hall, 4th Baronet, High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1797, eldest surviving son and heir, bap. at Brotherton, Yorks, Eng. 1 Dec 1755, d. in Hamilton Place, Piccacilly, London, Eng. 15 July 1839, aged 83, bd. at Brotherton, Yorks. Md = Louisa Susanna Ingram-Shepherd, 5th dau. and co-h. of Charles, Viscount Irwin, in Scotland, Md. at the Viscountess Irwin's, in Stanhope St., Mayfair, London, Eng. 7 Jul 1787, d. 22 Nov 1857, aged 91, bd. at Brotherton. 7 children = one of which was my G-G-G-Grandmother - Lady Louisa Mary Isabella Ramsden, Heiress, of Longley Hall, Yorkshire, Eng. dau. of Sir John and Lady Louisa Ramsden; b. 14 Nov 1790, m. 1stly to(Surgeon-Major) Dr. David Wood, b. 1774, (of Stokes, co. of Devon, Eng, bachelor) at St. Anne's Parish of Limehouse District, Church Row, Middlesex 6 Jan 1814. (Marriage never recognized by her titled Ramsden family). David attended Aberdeen University and King's College, Aberdeen, Scotland. Military records show he served in the British Army in various Regiments, from 1797 as Asst. Surgeon, then Surgeon, incl. Wellington's Army in the Peninsular War which included Spain, Portugal and France. David retired 1814 from the Army; took an additional medical degree in family practice (MD). Isobella & David moved to Silsoe, Bedford-shire, Yorks. Eng. David in private practice = sons: David Wood b. 1815; William b. 1816. Family moved to Nottinghamshire, Notts. Eng. John b&d. 1817, Edward b. 1819. (I'm descend from the William Wood, MD line thru his son Dr. Wm. Ed. Ramsden Wood; his son Leslie Kenneth Ramsden-Wood (who legally hyphenated R&W). I'm the youngest of 4. The Ramsden-Wood Coat of Arms is Rams heads/an armed arm couped at the elbow and erect proper holding in the gauntlet a fleurs-de-lis gules, quarterd Wood / Ramsden and below Ramsden / Wood, who would inherit this quartered coat.
