My paternal great grandfather was married to a Cayetana Almaguer who is sometimes listed in documents as Catlina.I presume Cayetana is not the Catalina you are searching for, but your message intrigued me because the story is very similar.Cayetana Almaguer was married to Juan Sotomayor and I do not yet know for certain where they lived, but probably Chihuahua or Coahuila during the late 1800's.Juan had a slaughter house and when he died, Cayetana was disowned by Juan's family and she moved to the U.S.She is buried in Wichita, Kansas.Forgive me for going into such detail, but I thought on a long shot your Catalina might be related in some way to my Cayetana.Cayetana had three sons: Luis Almaguer Sotomayor, Alfredo Sotomayor, and a third, name unknown.
Good luck with your research.I am stuck on both lines at those these two relatives.
Larry Sotomayor
