There were 2 James M. Ramey or Remy men in Washington Co., Arkansas. Mine was James Marion Ramey, son of Owen Bryan Ramey and Elizabeth Strickler. He was a Union soldier and fought at the Battle of Pea Ridge just north of Fayetteville, Washington, Arkansas. After the battle, he married Charity Mills, whose marriage is on file in Washington Co. I have a complete list of the children of James Marion and Also his father, Owen Bryan Ramey (Remy in VA and KY).
The other James M. Ramey or however he spelled his name also had land in Washigton Co, but had a wife named Elsie. That too is on file in Washington Co.
My James had a brother, William but not one named Winston or Wilson. No daughter named Elizabeth or a sister named Elizabeth. Who are these Rameys? Mine cme out of Floyd Co. KY. Hawkins and Sullivan Cos. in TN, Washington Co., VA , and points north clear to Westmoreland Co., VA where my immigrant ancestor, Jacques, arrived about 1650 or sofrom Picardy.
There was also about 100 years after Jacques arrived a Ramey or Reamy nmaed Abraham, who came from Germany into VA. I have not traced his line. Try Henrico Co., where a lot of French Huegonots settled. Cousin? Iris
