HI Cousin,
My maiden name was Iris Helen Ramey, daugter of Lloyd Martin Ramey and Amelia Ann Burbank. I know who your people were.
The Remy family, of Elkhorn Creek in Pike County, KY, were related to my Floyd Co., KY Remys. William Remy of Elkhorn, married Eleanor Harrison and had a land grant on Elkhorn. I have a copy of his will. He was 1st cousin once removed from my William Remy, who married Eleanor McCarty and settled in Floyd Co.,KY about 1804 with his grown children. At the time of his will, in 1816, there must have been at least 4 adult William Remys in that county, which was huge. About 1820 Pike and some other counties were made out of Floyd county. I have the map showing the original Floyd and the later divisions.
Both Williams left wills naming their own children and didn't sign with any middle initial, which caused a lot of confusion. My Owen Remy died before his father and was left out of the will, but his sister, Eleanor Roland, raised my 2nd great grandfather, Owen Bryan and his older brother, Ephraim, with her own children after her brother and wife died in some sort of epidemic.
Be glad to share with you. Iris Seyfried
