pages 288-290,472-74and died 28 Mar 1905. age 79. During the Civil War- Robert's fifteen year old son James served in his father's stead until he turned eighteen and was drafted to serv a himself. At that time Robert was called into service wit the South Carolina Militia and was wounded fighting in Virginia (423) He died from his wounds in April 1865. Both were buried in the Mountain Cree Churchyard, Kirksey Twp, Greenwood Co., SC. They reared Mary's niece, Emily V. John H. received advancements from his father to be charged against his inheritance: a slave, horse, saddle and money in sums of $500 on 29 Mar 1850; $100 on 14 Sep 1857: $1.400 on 16 Dec 1861; and $150 on 6 Jan 1875 as expenses incurred in bringing him from Texas to Georgia. John H. Rambo served as a Capt. Co. H, 22nd Texas Infantry Confederate Army, during the Civil War (423). The family moved to Wood Co.. Texas before 1866. GA (467) On 18 Feb 1878, he married VOLECIA VICTORIA HOL. LAND who was born 19 Nov 1855. She was the daughter of John R.Holland and his wife Elizabeth Walker. Mrs. Rambo's mother, Mrs. Holland at age 83 was murdered by a female slave in 1861, and the slave was hanged. The Rambo family lived on their farm near Menlo, Chattooga Co. GA, where Thomas died of a brain tumor on 21 Jan 1912. He was buried in the Alpine Cemetery in Menlo. Mrs. Rambo died 19 Nov 1925 on her 70th birthday. They had these children: 31931511.
