Hi Walter, Blanch Ida Ralston was born in 1876, died in
1965. She married Jesse Vernon Simpson, my g-grandfather.
Here is a letter from a Kevin Ralston sent to me a few
months ago.
Blanche Ida Ralston is the daughter of John Boyd Ralston & Rebecca Elizabeth Cunningham. She was their only child. John died from tuberculosis in Colorado and was brought back to Ohio to be buried.
The info that I had posted in the forum isn't right. Since then, I was able to find the correct names for everyone.
I have attached the latest draft of the biography of John Ralston, which cites many sources where I got my information from.
There were two Ralston brothers who married two Cunningham sisters. (This isn't easy to follow, but I'll explain the best I can.)
Thomas Ralston and John Boyd Ralston are the sons of John & Sarah (Boyd) Ralston.
Martha Jane Cunningham and Rebecca Elizabeth Cunningham are the daughters of Andrew & Mary Ann (Lindsey) Cunningham.
Thomas married Martha Jane, and John B. married Rebecca E.
So, from my end... Rebecca is your great-great-great grandmother, and she is my great-grand aunt, being the sister of my great-great grandmother.
John Boyd is my great-grand uncle because he is the brother of my great-great grandfather, and he is your great-great-great grandfather.
What is interesting is that Andew Cunningham's paternal-grandmother is Mary (Ralston) Cunningham. IF (big emphasis on the IF here) this Mary Ralston is from the same family as I come from, then that means that Thomas & John B. married their 3rd cousins (at minimum) M.J. and Rebecca. Or the name is just a coincodense and there is no relation at all.
Would you happen to know of anything about a Bible or old family pictures that Blanch might of had? The Family Bible of John Ralston was mentioned in the appraisement of his estate and there was photos with it as well. I have been thoroughly through the estates of Minnie and William, neither of them had it. I am really hoping that someone might have it still if Blanch took it back hom with her when she came to collect what was given to her. My grandfather met her once in 1906 when he was 8 years old. She had got at that time to collect what was hers and left. As the story goes, they were never heard from again. 100 years later, I started looking for those cousins, and thank you very much for replying to my post. The search for this Bible and Pictures became my Holy Grail after I found John's parents.
I usually send files, etc from my yahoo email. I've had problems with my Aol-mail sending the files through before, but never an email going rogue from yahoo. That's odd.
