Again Pat, found the following info with a bit of searching posted at at rootsweb RALSTON forum by Louise Ralston Brown: "Also found this info. for all those who follow Samuel Ralston (about) the marriage record of his daughter Rowena. This info. came from USGenWeb through RootsWeb: Martin Co, NC Marriage Records Hickman, E.B. to Ralston, Rowena, Miss - 4 Feb 1856 Then found this: Hickman, E.B. to Ralston, Rowena, Miss Actual marriage date: 4 Feb 1856 married by Rev. M.B. Grier, Wilmington, N.C., all of Independance, Missouri Source was the New Hanover Marriage Notice, Weekly Wilminington Journal, Feb 8, 1856." So from the above, we do know that Rowena was, indeed, a daughter of Samuel Ralston and that, no doubt, so was John. And the 1850 and 1860 census records indicate that these two children were born in NC, which may or may not be true. I am betting that the 1840 Clinton Co, MO, census shows your Samuel Ralston. There might possibly be a marriage record for Samuel Ralston in Clinton, Clay, or Jackson Co, MO, to a Mary C(atherine) (Hill). I think she is Samuel's second wife. The marriage may have taken place about 1848 judging from the birth of son Samuel (Jr.?) in 1850. If NC is birthplace of Rowena and John, then you might be searching for Samuel Ralston's first marriage record to an Unknown Female somewhere in NC? Just a suggestion. So this is a bit more info for you to use and certainly hope it helps you in your search. Cheryl Kemp Notify Administrator about this message?
