Do I have an update for you.I have been researching my great grandmother, Francis Martin born , Sept. 11, 1862 died in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on Aug. 7, 1929buried in Oaklawn cemetery.Francis married James Wyley Martin on November 30, 1876 in Howard County, Arkansas.I have a copy of the marriage .It says Francis Young 15 years old of Blackwood township and James W. Martin 20 years old also of Blackwood township, Howard county, Arkansas. It doesn't give another name for Francis.I have both her death/funeral records and it only mentions Francis. On her death certificate my grandad signed it at the bottom and it says her dad's name was YOUNG.It doesn't give his first name.On her funeral record it also gives her d.o.b. and death date and her dads name as YOUNG.Ms. Ralls, here was the dilema I had been facing.I had NO CLUE that her last name was YOUNG until a distant cousin gave me the information. On my grandad's death certificate my grandmother named my grandad's mother as: Francis Perrin.Well that was confusing until I began to unravel the family puzzle.I am still searching the date of marriage of Harriet Ralls b. January 25, 1843 , Kentuckydeath: September 3, 1923 also in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Garvin county.James Young Jr. b.November 23, 1836, Morgan County, Alabama was a confederate soldier in the Civil War. He lived in Sulphur Springs, Polk County, Arkansas. He fought in Dawes 19th Infantry , Arkansas. He contracted small pox while being held as prisoner of war in camp Douglas, Illinois. He was transferred to the smallpox hospital at Petersburg, Virginia where he died on April 18, 1863. He was interred in Blandford cemetery at Petersburg.Francis was his only child by Harriet Ralls. So Harriet Young remarried Josephus Perrin and Sarah Francis took on the name Perrin. She had some younger brothers and sisters with the name.Harriet Ralls YOUNG Perrin later married a Henry B. Logan in 1886 in Arkansas. Her last husband. So I found out who my g grandmother SARAH FRANCIS YOUNGparents were.I just have to connect the marriage date.Francis Young would have been less than a year old when her Dad died of small pox as a soldier and I can see why Harriet remarried with a small young girl. So I am sure that Harriet would not have remarried until after James Young Jr's death in 1863. If you have any information about the Ralls family I would appreciate it.I do see where my g grandad, James Wyley Martin had a sister named Rhoda Martin who married Harriet's brother James Ralls on January 27, 1875 in Howard County, Arkansas.I am going to check the Wynnewood funeral home for a funeral record on Harriet Ralls (Young, Perrin, Logan) and see if she is buried in the same block and lot number as Sarah Francis and James Martin.Thanksmy email is [email protected]
