In Reply to: Abraham Rainwater, son of James and ? Catherine Anne Reagan/Regan by Thelma M. (Rainwater) Melson of 1878

I believe the only one of Abraham's children that is provable is his daughter Nancy Ann who married Hiram Shearer in Russell Co., KY in 1832 -- because she was underage and Abraham is therefore mentioned in the marriage record.

The others are traditionally presumed to be his children, because they live in the same counties and often show up living close together in the census. These are Aaron, Daniel M., Pleasant, Gideon, and Mary who married Joshua Cooper.

Speaking of traditionally presumed, Catherine Regan is also not proven, just often repeated.

The census suggests that Abraham's wife died between 1840 and 1850, so unless someone can find a marriage record or a Bible, I believe her name has been lost.
