Emma was the child of Antoine Gagnon and Delima Prud'homme who were married at St-Jean-de-Matha (SJM) catholic church in Berthier County, Province of Quebec, January 7, 1873. (This area is North of the St-Lawrence River, about mid-way between Montreal and Three-Rivers.) He was the son of Francois Gagnon and Judith Miron. She was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Prud'homme and Adeline Morin. Publication no 54 of the Societe de Genealogie de Lanaudiere (SGL) (pages 177-179) attributes the following births and baptisms at SJM to Antoine and Delima: Child Birth Baptism Gagnon, Joseph December 3, 1874 December 3, 1874 Gagnon, Antoine Etienne September 2, 1876 September 2, 1876 Gagnon, M. In this census Joseph is shown married to Oseline (with a birthdate of December 13, 1874) and living nearby with two children (Moise and Napoleon), but three additional children are attributed to Antoine and Delima, and the birthdates are not consistent with the above dates. According to the census the children are: Child M/F Birth Age Location Arr in Canada Antoine M August 20, 1876 24 Quebec Emma F April 2, 1881 19 Quebec Judith F April 10, 1883 17 Quebec Treffle M June 2, 1887 13 Mass, USA 1888 Rosanna F March 1, 1889 12 Quebec Marie Louise F January 13, 1891 10 Quebec Dolphis M June 20, 1893 7 Mass, USA 1894 Pierre M November 9, 1895 5 Mass, USA 1894 Rosa Alma F December 30, 1897 3 Ontario January 9, 1905 Emma Gagnon and Victor Rainville contracted marriage in "Ste-Marie-de-Willimantic, Conn" according to an attestation dated July 11, 1918, in french, on stationery of St-Mary's Rectory in Willimantic, Connecticut, USA. The 1923-24 City Directory of Windsor, Ontario shows Emma Rainville as "widow of Hector" living with Yvonne Rainville. The 1924-25 Windsor City Directory (WCD) shows Emma Rainville "widow of Victor" still living with Yvonne Rainville. In the 1925-26 WCD, however, Emma (still widow of Victor) and Yvonne are joined by Irene Rainville. Yvonne and Irene are shown as working in Detroit, which is just across the Detroit River from Windsor. A Certificate of Marriage dated September 26, 1925 shows Marie Emma Reinville Gagnon and Alphonse Blanchard were married at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary catholic church in Windsor, Ontario. The 1926-27 WCD makes no mention of Emma, Yvonne, Irene or Alphonse Blanchard. Alphonse shows up in the 1928-29 WCD as well as a Victor Rainville (a bookkeeper) and Yvonne Rainville (working at Ford's). The 1929-30 WCD shows Victor as the only Rainville (with a wife Florence) and Alphonse Blanchard with a wife Emma. On January 12, 1927 Alphonse and Emma had a baby boy and named him Louis Joseph Moise Blanchard. Louis Blanchard married Cecile Garant June 18, 1949 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary catholic church in Windsor, Ontario. I have had no luck finding anything concerning this Victor Rainville, such as where & when he was born, when and where he died, nothing! Can you help?
