In July 1967, I went on a vacation with my parents to Burnt Corn, Monroe-Conecuh County, Alabama in search of our Raines relatives.
My father, Willie Lee Weaver, was the son of Annie Manerva (Partin) Weaver, who was born on March 7, 1870 in Alabama, out-of-wedlock, to Winnie Sanderson. Winnie Sanderson married Willis George Raines on January 19, 1872 in Monroe County, Alabama, and Willis became Annie's step-father.
We met two Raines relatives and I took a photograph. My father was standing in the center, and on his right side was Ed Raines and on his left side was Sam Raines.
Ed Raines was introduced to us as the nephew of Sam Raines.
Sam Raines was introduced to us as the step-brother of Annie Manerva(Partin)Weaver and step-uncle of Willie Lee Weaver.
Please contact me if you have any information about Ed Raines or Sam Raines or if you would like a copy of this photo. My email address: mewhundt@yahoo.com
With great appreciation, Mary in Texas
