Joan Harriet Raines Andrews obituary submitted

Joan Harriet Andrews was born on December 21, 1920 in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Harris and Nancy Davis Raines. She grew up in Heron Lake and graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1936. Joan then attended Worthington Junior College in Worthington, MN and graduated in 1938. On October 27, 1942 she and Gerard “Doc” Andrews were married at St. Mary’s Church in Worthington. Following their marriage they lived in Worthington and Joan worked at the Worthington State Bank. In 1952 they moved to the Slayton area and raised Turkey’s until 1960 when they moved into Slayton. In 1966 Joan started working as the secretary for the principal at the Slayton High School. Joan retired in 1986. Doc passed away on August 1, 1993. Joan continued living in Slayton. Joan passed away on February 11, 2007 at her home in Slayton at the age of 86. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton and was active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the W.C.C.W. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards, reading, crocheting, playing piano and sports.
Survivors includes her seven children, Tim Andrews and his wife, Judy of Seattle, WA, Pat Andrews of Pipestone, MN, Jerry Andrews and his wife, Mary of Duluth, MN, Paul Andrews and his wife Louann of Pipestone, MN, Marg Andrews of Slayton, MN, Jane Dooley and her husband, Chuck of St. Cloud, MN, and Tony Andrews of Duluth, MN. 11grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, two sisters, Carol Andersen and Mary Aida Faust both of CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Doc, one great-grandson, Andrew Brady, one brother, Floyd and his wife, Dorothy Raines, two brothers-in-law, Thorvald Andersen, and Donald Faust.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist is Sharon Lais. The song leader is Joanne Halbur. The pallbearers are Tim Andrews, Jerry Andrews, Paul Andrews, Tony Andrews, Brett Andrews and Dan Andrews. Interment at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be on Wed. From 4-7 p.m., at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton with a 4:30 p.m., rosary and also one hour prior to the services at the church on
Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. The song leader was Joanne Halbur. The pallbearers were Tim Andrews, Jerry Andrews, Paul Andrews, Tony Andrews, Brett Andrews, and Dan Andrews. Interment at St. Ann's Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
