David Rainer was born about 1755 based on ages given in US census records. He married Sarah Jarvis in Duplin County, NC in 1779 and they had about 5-6 children, 2 boys John and James Jarvis Rainer, and 4 girls. John married Delitha Hudson. Their mother,Sarah, apparently died and David later married Amey (most likely surname Eldridge)about 1795, date uncertain but based on ages of children and her age in US census records. David and Amey also had six childen, 5 boys, William, Samuel, Joab, Matthew (migrated to TN), Richard and 1 girl, Phereba or Phereby who married Witfield Thornton. All of these Rainers but Matthew remained in NC.

Your Rainers are probably connected to the NY lines or were later immigrants to the Northern states. You might check passenger records and immigration lists.

I have no proof yet but there is a belief between myself and one other researcher that our line originated through Virginia in the 1600's, maybe coming here from Bermuda first.
