Wayne; saw your post. I believe that i can help you on the Raines Tavern. A John Raine(s) and his brother George owned the Tavern. and The first Court House in Appamattox ? County, was held at John Raine(s) house. and the first court house was laid out on the property owned by John Raine(s) i have it spelled both ways in my records. If you will e-mail me direct at kyn8ive@aol.com so we can communicate directly i will pull my files and have them available to dispatch to you or at least e-mail them to you. I have this information in my quest for a Christopher Raines. If you have anything i would love to have it. He was married in Brunswick County, Virginia in 1788. By the way my dad said he played the harp with a fellow named Wayne Rainey in Cincinatti Ohio, this would be in the early 1940's. My dad's name was Lincoln Raines.I was young when he died i know that he played the harp very very well. Appreciate your help, and will pull these Raines Tavern Files. William P. Raines.
