Hi all,
Today I think I found our Irvin Rail in the 1900 census of Indian Territory, E.D. 102, sheet 17A.His name is James!I'm about 99% sure it's him because the names of his kids match my known information and he's living next door to Will Rail and Mary (Nolen) Rail. He's also living next door to Henry H. McKenzie and his wife Dora, who is Will's older sister. The Soundex code for Rail (R400) will not show this family because the census taker put their name down as "Rails" -- Soundex code R420!I found them by looking for Dora McKenzie, and now I will never forget to check Soundex R420 too.
An incomplete transcription:

Rails, William A., Dec. 1875 (24), married 4, TX, KY, AL

----William A., May 1890 (0/12 months), I.T., TX, I.T.
Sorry I didn't finish getting the dates for James Irvin's kids, but I found this at closing time and had to rush.
I believe James Irvin was the son of Thomas Rail and Anna Goodman of Maury county, Tennessee.Based on documents I received from another researcher, I also believe he had a brother named Richard Jackson (1838 -1917), a brother Thomas Houston (1843 - 1902), and a sister Elizabeth (ca. 1846 - ?, who married a John Davis). This family moved from Maury, TN sometime after 1843 and show up in the St. Louis, MO and especially the lower Illinois area by about 1858.Elizabeth and James Irvin were both born in KY.All the siblings later move to Arkansas, northern Texas (ca. 1877) and Indian Territory (late 1880's).
Hope this helps people.Happy hunting!
