Pat,
Three Howell brothers, Arthur, Thomas, and Willioam settled on the Congarees prior to 1741 from Maryland. Phillip Raiford settled also close to this date. He had a daughter who married Thomas Howell. I have been interested in these Howells but so far I cannot connect to mine. All three of these Howell brothers served in the Rev. War. Five or six miles below Columbia on the Congaree River would be in the Sandy Run area of Lexington County. Today it is in Calhoun County which was formed from Lexington. In the 1700s this area was knbown as Saxagotha which was carved out of Berkly County. It was also known as Orangeburg District. I haven't seen any Currys connected to the Howells or Raifords. Raiford's Crek is known today as Mill Creek. This is where the Howells and Raifords settled on the Richland Counhty side of the river.
