Raiford's in Gray (War of Northern Agression)

I have researching the Raiford families for almost 10 years now. My main interest in my research is to determine all my ancestors who fought in the War of Northern Agression. My great grandfather, Henry Raiford 1843-1909 who married his first cousin Martha Elizabeth Raiford in 1868 served in Co. A 18th Batt. VA Heavy Artillery. He manned the large guns around Richmond defenses and also served as a prison guard at Belle Isle. During the evacuation of Richmond, he fought and escaped at Saylor's Creek and was with Lee at Appomattox for his surrender to Grant on 9 April 1865. Brothers and cousins of Henry were Giles and Merritt Raiford who also served in Co. A. If you have a Raiford ancestor who fought in the war, please let me know.

Thanks,

William K. Raiford
