There is no connection between the name O'Rahilly and O'Reilly except for lazyness in pronounceation. O'Rahilly is in fact more closely related to O'Rafferty. When my uncles went to the USA in the early 1900 they did not dare argue to the Authorities and accepted their names to be changed to O'Reilly. This happened to many of the 0'Rahillys.
The O'Rahilly originated in Co. Kerry.
