Young Ragan/Reagan/Reagin of Abbeville County, South Carolina
Posted by: Donald B. Reagan (ID *****5251) Date: February 19, 2012 at 08:51:23
  of 1527

YOUNG RAGAN, son of Jesse and Rachael Jay Ragan, Sr., was born circa 1791 in Newberry District, South Carolina. He was married circa 1810 in Newberry County, South Carolina to Catherine ?_____?. She was born circa 1790/1794 probably in Newberry District, South Carolina. They were parents of five (5) children.

FAMILY: 1) EDWIN O. RAGAN; 2) JESSE RAGAN; 3) NICHOLAS RAGAN; 4) JOSEPH RAGAN; and 5) ELIZABETH RAGAN

My research notes:
Young Ragan was listed as head of household for 1820 Federal Census of Abbeville County, South Carolina. There were three (3) white males born 1810/1820; one (1) white male and one (1) white female born 1775/1794 in the household.

He was listed as head of household for 1830 and 1840 Federal Census of Abbeville County, South Carolina.

It appeared that Young Ragan must have died before 02 Nov 1846 in the environs of Rocky Branch Creek in Abbeville County, South Carolina. Approximate death date was gleaned from Young RaganŐs Intestate papers at Abbeville County Courthouse, Abbeville, South Carolina. (Abbeville County, South Carolina Probate Papers, Box 133, Package 3554)

His son, Jesse Ragan, was appointed as the administrator of Young RaganŐs estate by the Ordinary Court of Abbeville County, South Carolina. There was the letter of administration which was issued to Jesse Ragan. And there was the inventory and sale for Young RaganŐs estate.
