I'm guessing that Michael Sr's son John is the John Ragan Sr.(b. abt 1752) who appears in Hagerstown PA before 1770. This John Ragan was one of the original members of St. John's Lutheran Church (German Reform) in Hagerstown in 1770, indicating that he was a German Lutheran immigrant who probably moved to Hagerstown (Elizabethtown) from Pennsylvania. [A similar German Reform church was constructed in Yellow Springs, Chester Co. VA in 1772.] He was the proprietor of the Indian King Tavern/Inn for many years. He rendered patriotic service by providing “rashons” numerous times during the Rev. War. He died 22 Jun 1832. He married Lydia ___ (buried with him in Old St. Johns Lutheran Church Graveyard); they had 6 children, among them Col. John Ragan Jr. (my ancestor, b 17 Feb 1781, d 4 May 1816)who was a Lieut. Colonel and participated in the Battle of Bladensburg during the War of 1812.

So far I have no documentation that John Sr. was born in Yellow Springs or that John-son-of Michael migrated to Maryland, but the circumstantial evidence is interesting.
