Dear Geoff,
I have some information about a Raftery/McGerry/Noon connection.
My great gandparants were William & Catherine McGerry Bonney. Catherine McGerry's mother (a Margaret Raftery) first married a Mr McGerry, who was her father. AFter his death, she married a Mr. Noon. Noon & McGerry had the same given name, Michael. Margaret Raftery McGerry Noon is said to have been buried in England. However, HER mother (married name Raftery, don't know maiden name) was buried in Indianapolis, Indiana (some of her adult children had emigrated to the States and brought their mother over from Ireland after they were settled). One of these adult children (siblings of my great great grandmother) was Mike Raftery, one of the early Irish policemen in Indianapolis.
My parent met two relatives in 1994 when on a visit to England: James Noon, & my grandmother's first cousin, Mrs. M.E. "Cissie" Thistlewaite, who was a Leatherbarrow.
Please let me know how this information fits in with yours. My father has additional information in his files.
