I am looking for any information on my father's family. My father's name was John Vincent Raftery (1925-1999). His father's name was Thomas Aloysious (sp ?) Raftery. Either he or his father, also Thomas, emigrated through Ellis Island, most likely at the turn of the century. My grandfather married a New Yorker, Alice, unknown surname. I have tried the Ellis Island website with no luck as I have so little information and there were many Thomas Raftery's on the site. I only know that my grandmother and grandfather settled on 37th street in Astoria, Queens, before 1925, and that my grandmother lived in that house until she died in 1986. Any help or ideas about where to start would be greatly appreciated.
