Thanks for the response. Although the family information does not ring familiar to any ancestry I've heard while growing up in the Bronx it is interesting to hear that other Raftery's exist out there. Surprisingly more than I ever expected.

I sometimes wondered if the Raftery name was Americanized during immigration, but I visited Mayo Ireland for a short, one day, trip in 1983. Was visiting another part of Ireland just happened past Mayo, and I saw a Pub affectionatly named "Raftery's Pub." At that point in time I truly felt I had a past. I am sort of an outcast, now living in Maryland while the rest of my clan still live in the Bronx.
