Hi Cassie:
I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%.
Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.
Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).
Your Kiltevna is likely "Kiltivna," a 191 acre townland in Dunmore civil parish
For Cat(herine) Hoary B 1903 (exact), Co. Galway, with a father forenamed Thomas, I found 0 rcds.
For Thomas Hoary M 1901 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Galway, I found 0 rcds.
For Delia Rafferty M ditto, I found ditto.
For Delia Rafferty B 1882 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Galway, with the father's forename unknown, I found 0 rcds.
For Thomas Hoary B 1877 ditto, I found 1 rcd in 1874 Galway, Fahy RC parish. The father's forename was Pat(rick). This has some chance of being for this ancestor as there are only 38 "Hoary" B rcds in Co. Galway. Of these, only two are forenamed Thomas. The other Thomas is B outside of a relevant range.
Note - B/M/D registration was civil after 1863. This database contains some, but not all, civil rcds. Civil rcds which survived the 1922 Four Courts fire are kept by the General Register Office. Its rcds may be more complete. Contact it at http://www.groireland.iehttp://www.groireland.ie for certificate copies. Fees apply.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps.
