Hi, I'm trying to find out more about the RAFFERTY family who emigrated from Ireland to Renfrewshire & then Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1800s. On 1841 census for Barrhead, Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland are listed:- - John RAFFERTY, aged 20, b. Ireland, occupation: coal-miner - Catherine RAFFERTY, aged 20, b. Ireland, occupation: bleacher They are living with the DONNELLY family, also from Ireland. John RAFFERTY married Roseanna BIGGINS (also from Ireland, living in Barrhead) in 1842 in Mearns, Renfrewshire, Scotland. The couple moved to Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They had children including:- - Patrick RAFFERTY, b. 1855 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, - Thomas RAFFERTY, b. 1858 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire - Rose Ann RAFFERTY, b. 1863 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire - Margaret RAFFERTY, b. 1865 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire I think that John RAFFERTY had a sister, Elizabeth RAFFERTY. Elizabeth RAFFERTY married Patrick MURRAY, a coal-miner, in 1863 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire. They had children:- - Daniel RAFFERTY b. 1863 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland - Patrick RAFFERTY, b. 1867 Dalmellington, Ayr, Scotland - Janet RAFFERTY, b. 1870 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland - Elizabeth RAFFERTY, b. 1872 Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland The two families were living in the same road in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire in the 1870s. Does anybody recognize this family? Thanks. Michelle Notify Administrator about this message?
