Herman Radtke(b. 11/1853 in Germany) was the son of Fredericka (b. 9/1827) and an Unknown Radtke, who had died when he was young. Herman emigrated from Germany to the U.S. (and to Wisconsin) in 1874, along with his mother Fredericka and stepfather Wilhelm Buss, whom she had married about 1857. They were living with Herman as HOH in the 1900 census.

On that same census it showed Fredericka had given birth to 5 children, 2 of whom were still living in 1900. On that same 1900 census sheet there is another Wilhelm Buss (b. 10/1856)listed with his wife Maria and 8 children, who would be the right age to be her son with Wilhelm Buss--he and Herman Radtke may be the only two surviving children in 1900.

I would be glad to share additional info with you about the Radtke family, if you will e-mail me. By the way, did you know there will be a Radtke Family Reunion in Wisconsin next summer?
