Thank you so much for your response, but, they are different Hiram Radleys. The one that married Agnes is easier to track then the one I want. Wouldn't you know. LOL
The one I want bought and sold land in Coles Co, IL. On one early record is says he was from Shelby Co, IL. It is believed he belongs to the family of Ichabod Radley and Hanna Bush who came to IL from Hardin Co, KY. Hanna Bush is the sister to Sarah Bush Johnston Lincoln, stepmother of Abe.
I am working on a theory that my 3rd gr grdmthr, Hettie Ann Neighbors, had a stepfather named Radley. She uses Radley on her first marriage. Her husband, John Bell, buys land from Hiram Radley in Coles Co, IL in 1839. When the land is sold John Bell, wife Hettie and Elizabeth Radley are grantors. No reason given for Elizabeth being on the record. Elizabeth Radley lives next door on the 1840 census, and is either the remarried mother of Hettie, or Elizabeth is a Radley and was never married. Wow, all kinds of "possibles" on this one. Even professionals shake their heads on this line. I took it as a "problem" for a methodology class a couple of years ago in Salt Lake City. Too many clues to go into why either of the above "possibles" were arrived at.
The elusive Hiram, for whom I'm searching, shows up on land records and that seems to be it. No census, nor marriage record, even in neighboring counties (I've checked the state wide marriage index for IL, too) He just appears and then disappears. (^_^)
