Thomas Radford of London, England 1820

I am looking for information for these four Radfords of London, England 1820

1. Jonas Radford b. 03 Jun 1801, London, Baptized 28 Jun 1801, St. Botolph, Bishopsgate, London. (Parents Thomas and Mary Radford)

2. John Radford b. 13 Aug 1804, London, Baptized 09 Sep 1804, St. Botolph, Bishopgate, London. (Parents Thomas and Mary Radford)

3. Elizabeth Radford

4. Thomas Radford, Trustee

They are listed in the will of Elizabeth Grocock.

My relative, Sabra Cockerill, died about 1845 and I found the court records when her husband was contesting the will of Elizabeth Grocock because he wanted his wife's money (share of the inheritence) after she died even though the will clearly states he got nothing.

In January 1845, Thomas Cockerill, surviving spouse of Sabra Cockerill, goes to court. The case is Cockerill v. Pitchforth.

The will starts:

ELIZABETH GROCOCK, late of Finchley, widow, by her will, dated the 15th of November, 1824 ... Sabra, wife of Thomas Cockerill ; Sarah, wife of John Cockerill ; Elizabeth,

Elizabeth Grocock made a special paragraph in her will that the money went to Sabra's son Richard Cockrill b. abt. 1819. It even named a person (Mr. Tomlinson) to oversee the money until Richard reached maturity in case Sabra died.

It was odd that her daughter Mary Ann Walton and her other son Thomas Truman Cockrill b. abt. 1815 were not mentioned in the will and did not get a dime.

I am surprized in the lack of information for many of my English relatives who lived in London during that time period. The records were probably destroyed in the wars. I know the church they attended was destroyed during the bombings.

Now that I have addresses for them, I want to get back to London to checkout the buildings and residences. My sister and I were so close during a trip to London when we were on the Tower Bridge. The map shows my relatives lived about 5 blocks from the Tower Bridge.

Here is one of my postings:

I have a new interest in the Grocock name since I found my relative Sabra Cockrill/Cockerill named in the will of an Elizabeth Grocock who died in March, 1826 in Finchley, England. The will is dated 15 November 1824.

Lawsuit is Cockerill v. Pitchforth 1845

My relative, Thomas Cockrill is contesting the will.

They wrote: Upon Mrs. Cockerillís death, her husband instituted this suit against the trustees and Tomlinson, requiring the transfer of the fund to himself, alleging that the clause in the will directing the share or proportion of his wife to be for her separate use, &c., was applicable to her share in the real estate only.
