I located John and Jacob in the 1800 census -- in Shawangunk, Ulster County, NY of all places.

Just in case someone else encounters the same problem I did, the last name was spelled "Reideker". They are located on page 252 (Ancestry.Com census image #8 of 10 for Shawangunk) of the 1800 Federal Census for Shawangunk, Ulster County.

Other "Reideker" families located on this page: Peter and Jeremiah.

Their brother Henry "Reideker" is located on page 304 of the 1800 Federal Census for Montgomery, Orange County, NY.
