Natalie,
Did you obtain your information on the Radekers from Gail Hafele's research?
I have extensive documented information on the early Radekers, mostly from church marriage and baptismal records, that contradict what she has written.I am happy to share the information with you.
My last Radeker ancestor was Martha Ann Radeker (1808-1876) of Montgomery, Orange County, who was married to Ray Horton (1811-1884), a grandson to William Horton of Colchester.Martha Ann Radeker's father was Henry Radeker, who was a brother to John.
Your John Radeker was born 5 Jul 1772 in Kingston, Ulster County, NY, and baptised at St. Paul's (Zion's) Lutheran Church in Red Hook, Dutchess County, NY.He was the son of Henricus Radeker and Johanna Teerpenning.
(source:Transcribed by Arthur C. M. Kelly, Baptism Record of St. Paul's (Zion's) Lutheran Church, Red Hook, New York,(1971), P. 62,Record 1361)
John, and his younger brother Jacob, went to Delaware County from Ulster in the early 1790's.They, with the help of William Horton, opened the first grist mill in Delaware County.John married William's daughter Hattie (not Sophia, she married John Miller), and Jacob married Sarah.William's son Isaac is Ray Horton's father.
I have been actively researching the Radeker family for more than 3 years, and the Hortons for nearly 7.I am always excited to find a new Radeker cousin who can help fill in some gaps for me.:)
If you would like to exchange information, e-mail me privately.I look forward to corresponding with you.
Regards,
Sue:)
