Elizabeth Emeline Radcliff (1845-1935), the daughter of Jas. Radcliff (1804-1884) and Hannah Mariah Coplin (1816-1902), m. (Jas.?) Madison Commander (c1834-1891) in Parker Co., TX, in 1863. She and her husband had 10 children, one of whom, Edward Forrest Commander (1868-1952), of Ft. Worth, TX, was my ggrandfather. According to family stories handed down from older generations, Emeline and Madison eloped and she was disinherited by her family because of it. In her later yrs., she reportedly told family members of having traveled by horseback and covered wagon as a child and of having had to hide from hostile Indians to save her life.
