At least one branch of the Maine Rackliffs changed the spelling to Radcliffe, date unk.
The Devonshire Radcliffs had the most creative spellings, i.e., RADICLIFT, RADDICLIFF, etc. I have discovered exactly 25 separate spellings; the late Clarence Ratcliffe collected 38 variations. The original name "Redcliff" seems to have disappeared entirely. But it probably wasn't spelled that way anyhow.
